Happy new year... more or less...

Good morning and happy new year to everyone (though it's already February)! I've been busy with too much stuff, mostly sculpting, but I'm still here, so.... what news do we have?

My website is finally online - still under construction, but online at least.
->> teptec.net

The bears for machinima.com's christmas contest have been completed, final shots can be found on my website, but unfortunately I didn't have the time to take photos under a better lighting setup, so everything is pretty messed up, from strong highlights to washed colors.

Then we had: Skörg, Devourer of Socks
"An ancient demon, responsible for the loss of millions of socks per year. Nowadays he prefers living in drawers and dryers to make sure you ask yourself what happend to those socks again... Some even say he is paid by the sock industry, who knows. He just lost his right eye when he met the beast that keeps on stealing one of my lighters every week."

Maybe I'll make a resin kit, but that's not on the important to-do list for now. More photos can be found on my website again.

Last but not least I'm currently working on commissioned bloodelf-angel. I'll throw some better images and more details around in a few days (when I'm done). Stay tuned!

Rusty Bears

Many hours, a lot of silicone rubber and resin later...

There will be some more bumpy brown tones after sealing everthing, more or less removing the intense orange, but the paints demands a 3-day vacation before being tortured with the sealing coat. So be it.

Workwork...

Indeed - I'm still alive! The GnoViBrator massproduction won't happen today or tomorrow unfortunately as I ran into some small (but still existant) problems with the mold.

The good news is that I'm working on something nonetheless; A bear-mount trophy for machinima.com's christmas contest. He'll be covered in ... oh well, you'll see soon enough.
So, being up for 40 hours again I'll just leave you with some of the W.I.P. shots (taken today - 4 or 5 days of work so far). Most of the gray "muscle"-parts will be covered with fat and fur, don't worry - he's not starving.

It's alive!

I'll make it short today as I have a lot of other stuff to complete before the sun goes down.

It's alive - cast in black polyurethan and verrrrry vibrative. The surplus material on the feet has not yet been removed, but will be later of course.

Clone Wars

So the second half of the mold got finished and I just made a fast plaster cast to check if there are any annoying seems or problem zones, but everything works as planned. Please note that the plaster I used is not really made for casting in closed molds, so the air bubbles are only a plaster problem. The final cast won't have any (hopefully).

Silicone Valley

Oh what a wonderful day - first half of the silicone mold is complete and quite perfect. No air bubbles, no ugly holes and the cleanup on the master model is minimal.

Draw the line

Starting with the real inner mold now - a brief summary:
  • Half of the placeholder-clay removed
  • Tinfoil got replaced with cling film and most of it got removed (could also work without any covering, but I don't want to spend hours for cleaning the gnomes butt)
  • Final parting line sculpted - "accuracy" is today's keyword here
  • Mother-mold closed and filled with lovely silicone rubber
Hopefully everything works as planned... we'll see tomorrow.

Mighty Morphine TinFoil Bondage Gnome meets the Iron Clay Maiden

A quite early shot, but my batteries gave up, so more pics will follow tomorrow. The outer plaster-shell is curing (and maybe a bit too solid... like... 40mm thick...)

The clay will be removed later - only a placeholder for the silicone rubber.

Rubber Gnomes and Spongebob

Just a little quick'n'dirty update here:
The silicone rubber and the plaster for the mold finally arrived *cheers*
I already did some testing with the silicone and everything seems to work out pretty well.
Build of the matrix-mother-mold will begin today - I've never done that before, but I guess I'll figure out how to make it work.

Lepra-Hands

My hands look like the final stadium of lepra after 2 hours of wet sanding the gnome, but thats a fair trade for a surface as smooth as glass.

Hot gnomes?!

Luckily he survived the baking - it's always a little risk to bake stuff thats more than 20mm thick. Got some microscopic cracks, but nothing that'll be visible later.

out of titles...
